Lafayette Students Launch Drive to Support Local Organizations with Essential Donations
A vital collection drive is underway at Lafayette Collage, aiming to provide crucial support to Third Street Alliance and ProJeCt of Easton through donations of bras and menstrual products. The annual initiative, spearheaded by the Lafayette chapter of LRAJE, seeks to address the often-overlooked needs of community organizations serving vulnerable populations.
The drive, which began Monday, December 1, and will continue through Friday, December 5, offers multiple convenient drop-off locations for students, faculty, and staff. Collection boxes have been strategically placed in Bailey Health Center, McKeen hall, Keefe Hall, South College, and Marquis Hall.
“This is a fantastic chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need within our local community,” stated a senior official involved with the project. “These items are frequently overlooked, yet they are essential for dignity and well-being.”
Beyond the designated collection boxes,LRAJE members will be actively engaging the campus community by tabling on Mondays and Fridays in Farinon College Center. This provides an additional avenue for donations and allows for direct interaction with organizers.
The timing of the drive coincides with Thanksgiving Break, presenting a unique opportunity for individuals to declutter their homes and gather donations from family and friends. Organizers encourage everyone to consider contributing any unused or gently used items.
LRAJE President Rebekah Lazar emphasized the importance of community involvement. Individuals with questions or seeking further information are encouraged to reach out via email at [email protected] or connect with the organization on Instagram at @lraje_laf.
This initiative underscores the commitment of Lafayette College students to social duty and highlights the power of collective action in addressing critical community needs.
