Senegal Trucking Incident: Driver and Companion Charged in Customs Officer’s Death

Senegalese authorities have charged two men, Pape Faye and Gora Diouck, with murder and related offenses following the death of a customs officer during a routine inspection. The incident, which occurred on November 25, 2025, has sparked outrage and prompted a swift response from law enforcement.

The Fatal Encounter

On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at approximately 11 p.m., Adama Ndiaye, a main Customs inspection agent with the Multipurpose Fraud Research and Repression Group (GPR) of Thiès, was killed while conducting a routine check near Mboro. Ndiaye and two colleagues were on patrol when they encountered a suspicious truck parked in Darou Khoudoss, along the Route des ICS, opposite a municipal stadium.

The customs agents, operating with a valid mission order, approached the vehicle to investigate its contents. According to reports, the driver, later identified as Pape Faye, unexpectedly accelerated the truck, striking and fatally injuring Agent Ndiaye. A pursuit ensued, ultimately leading to the apprehension of Faye and Diouck.

Arrest and Charges

Following their capture, Pape Faye, born September 24, 1997, in Diobas and residing in Pout, and Gora Diouck, born September 24, 1999, in Bambilor, were presented to the Thiès public prosecutor’s office on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. An investigating judge subsequently issued an arrest warrant, placing both men in custody at Dixième prison in Thiès.

The charges against Faye and Diouck extend beyond murder to include driving under the influence of drugs and possession and use of Indian hemp. These additional charges suggest a potentially impaired state during the incident and raise questions about the circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s initial stop.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are continuing to investigate the full sequence of events leading to Agent Ndiaye’s death. The initial investigation focused on identifying and apprehending the individuals involved, culminating in the arrests of Faye and Diouck. Further details regarding the nature of the truck’s cargo and the motivations behind the alleged actions are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.

The death of Agent Ndiaye represents a significant loss for the GPR and underscores the risks faced by law enforcement officials in Senegal. The swift action taken by authorities demonstrates a commitment to justice and accountability in this tragic case.
