Details of the Arrests
Authorities arrested two 14-year-old girls this Thursday morning in connection with the assault, placing them in police custody under the direction of the Lyon prosecutor’s office. One of the suspects attends Paul-d’Aubarède college in Saint-Genis-Laval, while the other is a student at Jacquard high school in Oullins.
“A Futile Pretext”
The family’s lawyer, Me Jean-François Barre, described the attack as stemming from a “futile pretext.” “My client is a young girl without history and without problems. On a futile pretext, she received multiple blows. She is on the ground, being kicked in the head in particular, while her accomplice films,” he explained. “She is now in great psychological difficulty. We call him, we show him the posted video (editor’s note, removed from social networks).”
According to Barre, the attacker allegedly blamed the victim for speaking negatively about her brother, a claim he disputes. He stated they are awaiting the hearing report to understand the suspect’s account of events. “Being attacked like this in a place where you come to receive education is very serious,” Barre added.
The two young girls are expected to appear before a children’s judge following the conclusion of their police custody. They could face prosecution for “aggravated violence in meetings.”
