Mike Santana reclaimed the TNA World Championship in a dramatic main event on the debut episode of TNA iMPACT on AMC, ending Frankie Kazarian’s reign. The victory marks a significant moment for Santana, who has been relentlessly pursuing the title for months.

A Back-and-Forth Battle on National Television

The championship match was a grueling contest filled with high-impact maneuvers and dramatic reversals.

  • Santana started strong, utilizing his signature power moves.
  • Kazarian employed a more calculated approach, focusing on wearing down his opponent.
  • A controversial moment involving the referee proved pivotal in the match’s outcome.
  • Santana ultimately prevailed, executing his finishing move to secure the championship.

The match began with Santana immediately taking the offensive. He attempted a “Spin The Block,” but Kazarian skillfully evaded the maneuver. Santana responded with a forceful elbow strike, sending Kazarian to the floor. He followed up with a daring dive over the ropes, bringing the champion down outside the ring. However, Kazarian quickly countered, driving Santana into the barricade, leaving both competitors reeling as the show went to a commercial break.

Upon returning from the break, Kazarian slowed the pace, grounding Santana with a backstabber and nearly securing a pinfall. He continued to taunt Santana, slapping him repeatedly, which only seemed to ignite Santana’s fighting spirit. Santana retaliated with a series of chops in the corner, blocked a kick, and landed a powerful superkick. He followed with a “Rolling Buck Fifty” and came close to winning, but Kazarian managed to kick out.

Santana continued his assault with a “Spanish Fly” from the top rope and a “Code Red,” yet Kazarian continued to survive. Kazarian regained control by countering a cannonball with raised knees and executing “Angel’s Wings” for another near fall. The match became a whirlwind of counters, roll-ups, and near-pinfall situations.

The turning point arrived when Kazarian inadvertently struck the referee. With the official incapacitated, Santana hit “Spin The Block,” but was unable to secure the pin. Capitalizing on the chaos, Kazarian used the World Title belt as a weapon and followed with “Fade to Black” on the apron. Remarkably, Santana kicked out even after this brutal attack once the referee recovered.

In the final moments, Santana rallied with renewed determination. He avoided Kazarian’s attempt at “Spin The Block” and connected with his own version of the move, finally covering Kazarian for the three-count and reclaiming the championship.

This victory brought an end to Santana’s months-long pursuit of revenge, stemming from Kazarian’s defeat of a battered Santana for the title in November 2025, using a trophy earned in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet.
