The 25,000 m2 site, slated to open in 2027, will not only streamline logistics but also serve as the country’s largest ripening plant, promising fresher produce for consumers.

The Omer-Decugis & Cie group, a long-standing player in the European produce market since 1850, is driving the ambitious project. “We are present in all distribution networks: large and medium-sized supermarkets (GMS), specialized distribution (Biocoop), including collective catering, but also Asian chains,” explained CEO Vincent Omer-Decugis in December. This expansion underscores the company’s commitment to serving a diverse range of retailers and consumers.

Strategic Partnership and Expansion Plans

A dedicated section of the warehouse will focus on cutting and vacuum-packing the ripened fruit, offering a convenient, ready-to-eat option for consumers.
To maximize efficiency, the company intends to reroute some container shipments currently destined for Rotterdam, Netherlands, to the new Dunkirk location. This strategic move could unlock significant logistical advantages and potentially lead to the creation of 400 additional jobs, building on the company’s existing European workforce of 300.
