Nineteen drivers from around the globe have assembled on the circuito da Guia starting grid to compete in this inaugural event.The lineup includes Yuzhe Wang (China), Kimi Yu Tsai Chan and Shimo Zhang (Hong Kong), Gino Trappa (Argentina), Aryaman Bansal (India), Kyuho Lee (South Korea), Rintaro Sato and Itsuki Sato (Japan), Rayan Caretti, Jules Roussel, and Alexandre Munoz (France), Fionn McLaughlin (Ireland), Thomas Bearman and Kean Nakamura-Berta (great Britain), Tiago Golovko Rodrigues and Man Hei Cheong (Macau), Emily Cotty (Great Britain), Emanuele Pirro (Italy), and Sebastian Wheldon (United States).
The inaugural FIA F4 world Cup was established by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) to provide a competitive platform for young Formula 4 drivers. The ‘why’ behind the event is to bridge the gap between national F4 championships and the higher tiers of single-seater racing,like Formula Regional and ultimately,Formula 1. The event aims to identify and nurture emerging talent, offering them invaluable experience on a demanding circuit. The ‘who’ consists of nineteen drivers representing fifteen countries, all vying for the title of inaugural FIA F4 World cup champion.
The competition began with an eight-lap FIA F4 World Cup Qualification Race scheduled for 11:40 local time on Saturday. Sebastian Wheldon of the United States secured pole position in the Qualification Race, setting the stage for a thrilling final race. The ‘how’ of the event unfolds through a series of qualifying and race sessions, testing drivers’ speed, consistency, and racecraft. The final race took place on Sunday, November 19th, and saw Sebastian Wheldon emerge victorious, claiming the inaugural FIA F4 World Cup title.
