Enrico Nigiotti Sanremo 2026: New Song & Life Reflections

Livorno’s Enrico Nigiotti is heading back too the Sanremo festival, and he’s doing things a little differently-with a song that deliberately skips the chorus. “Better a song without a chorus than one with a bad chorus, right?” the 38-year-old singer-songwriter quipped. “I realized this was the right piece for Sanremo because it’s a different, more intimate journey.”

A past Exit from «Friends»

Nigiotti’s willingness to forge his own path isn’t new. In 2009, he withdrew from the talent show “Amici” to avoid competing against his then-girlfriend.”More than an artist, I feel like a human being, and I live with the idea of not failing in what I feel. I wouldn’t be able to do it any other way.” His Sanremo entry, «Every time I don’t know how to fly», co-written with Pacifico, unfolds like an internal film, a way to process past experiences. “Time is strange; I like to see it pass, but I also know it changes things.People arrive and people leave. Those who’ve come into my life have changed it for the better, but I fear losing others-I struggle with the death of loved ones. However, the idea of growing older doesn’t change how I see myself: I’m still the same river, even if, as Heraclitus said, the water isn’t the same.”

Cover Collaboration with Alfa

For the cover evening at Sanremo, Nigiotti will team up with Alfa to perform samuele Bersani’s «En e Xanax». “I wanted to bring a song by Bersani, which is brilliant and deserves even more recognition. I also wanted to connect two generations-the first represented by Bersani, and the next by Alfa. I think introducing Bersani to those who discovered us is a way of creating culture.”

New Album and Tour Dates

Nigiotti’s new album, «Damned in love», is set for release on March 13th.He describes it as a celebration of “love for life, for every other person.” The album notes reflect two years of personal change.”The birth of my two sons, who will be three years old on the album’s release date, has made me a better writer and calmed me down a lot.I used to count to four before speaking; now I count to seven or eight. I’m happy.” A theater tour has just concluded, and his first arena concert is scheduled in his hometown of Livorno. “I can’t wait to get back to playing live and enjoy the moment. My mother always tells me that my songs are best understood in a live setting. And even if I don’t play in Sanremo, I’ll have my guitar with me on tour-I’ve been obsessed with Eric Clapton ever as my father introduced me to his music.”
