Candice Michelle, a name familiar to wrestling fans from her time in WWE, is embarking on a latest chapter in her career. After years as a model and in-ring performer, she’s now working as an agent with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), with a potential return to the ring not entirely off the table. The shift comes after a career that included a WWE Women’s Championship win and a significant injury that sidelined her for years.
The move to TNA came about through a call from veteran wrestler Tommy Dreamer, who offered Michelle a position as an agent starting in January 2026. “He’s like, come and shadow me the first weekend, and the next weekend you’ll be an agent,” Michelle recounted in a recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet. “All I can think about is that it’s wrestling, you recognize, we’re gonna see if you’re going to survive or not, and if you can do it or not and throw them to the wolves. I was like, Okay, let’s travel.”
While initially a backstage role, Michelle hinted at the possibility of a return to television, suggesting her signing with TNA could be a stepping stone to a full comeback. This possibility has been fueled by appearances at events like WrestleCon, where she spoke with Dustin Rhodes about potentially wrestling again. “I was going to the Hall of Fame that year to watch Michelle [McCool] be inducted,” Michelle explained. “I go over to him, I was like, ‘Hey, I know you have a school in Texas, and I think I have the itch.’ He’s like, what? I don’t know if she really does.” The call from Tommy Dreamer in December solidified her feeling that a return was on the horizon.
Michelle’s wrestling journey hasn’t been without its challenges. A particularly harrowing experience occurred during a match with Beth Phoenix while wrestling overseas. The match took place during a period when Michelle was receiving focused training from wrestling legends Arn Anderson and Ricky Steamboat. “What we have is when Arn Anderson and Ricky Steamboat started to really train me,” she said. “So you see how really towards the conclude of my wrestling career is when I really felt like I was getting the knowledge.”
The pair were attempting a maneuver where a wrestler opens their legs on the top rope and falls inward, but the attempt went wrong. “I guess I’m not that flexible,” Michelle admitted. “I think about it to this day. I just saw somebody on TNA do this move, and I was like, yeah, that’s not for me. So I was like, I’ll do my knees instead. That’s a little less flexible.” Initially, she landed on her neck but felt no immediate pain. Still, during a subsequent attempt in Nebraska, her boot caught the rope, and she landed directly on her head.
The impact resulted in a concussion and a broken collarbone. Michelle was knocked unconscious and doesn’t remember the immediate aftermath. “The first thing I remember is being on the stretcher, and Stephanie McMahon was leaning over me, and they’re going into Gorilla, and she goes, ‘Don’t worry, we’re flying your husband out,’” Michelle recalled. “I was like, they don’t fly your husband out [unless it’s serious]. So instantly, I was worried.” She emphasized the lack of understanding surrounding concussions and injuries at the time, noting the potential for paralysis had the impact been slightly different.
