Akron is gearing up for its annual celebration of the 330 area code, a tradition that has blossomed since 2016 into a citywide event. More than just a three-digit number, 330 Day—and the days leading up to March 30—has develop into a point of civic pride, mirroring similar celebrations in cities like Detroit (313 Day), Cleveland (216 Day), and Milwaukee (414 Day). This year’s festivities promise a diverse range of events, from live music and art workshops to community gatherings and athletic pursuits.
The spirit of 330 Day isn’t centered around a single event, but rather a series of happenings spread across the city. This year’s celebrations kick off on March 28th with a free, all-day party at House Three Thirty, located at 532 W. Market St. The event will feature live music, art classes, a sound bath, circus performances, and a marketplace showcasing local vendors and Akron-themed merchandise. On March 30th, the University of Akron’s service organization, Serve Akron, will host “LOVE 330 Day” from noon to 2 p.m. At the International/Lounge Piano in the Jean Hower Taber Student Union (303 Carroll St.). The event will feature a Jeopardy-style game focused on downtown Akron and the university, with Akron-themed prize baskets up for grabs. The Summit FM’s 9th Annual 330 Day Concert & Festivities
For music enthusiasts, The Summit FM is hosting its 9th Annual 330 Day Concert & Festivities on March 30th, beginning at 3:30 p.m. At the Robins Theatre (160 E. Market St., Warren). The day-long celebration will also include an interactive Wellness Music & Movement Showcase at the Raymond John Wean Foundation (147 W. Market St., Warren), featuring live music by Marc Lee Shannon. A pre-party with a DJ set by Summit Music’s Chad Miller will be held at Modern Method Brewing (125 David Grohl Alley, Warren) before the main concert, which will feature performances by Barry Carroll, Black Wolf & the Thief, and headliner The Labra Brothers. Showing 330 Pride: Shirt Day and Run 330
Beyond the concerts and organized events, 330 Day offers opportunities for individual expression and community involvement. The Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau is encouraging residents to participate in “330 Shirt Day” on March 30th by wearing their favorite 330-themed apparel and posting a selfie on social media with the hashtag #330ShirtDay for a chance to win prizes, including a $330 package or a $100 donation to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
