Cactus Cartoon Award Highlights Global Responses to Pressing Issues

A powerful exhibition showcasing over 1,200 artistic solutions to the world’s most challenging problems-from wars and inequality to climate change-is now open to the public at the castle museum in Linz, Austria, and will run through March 1, 2026.

The Cactus Cartoon Award, a unique international competition, invited nearly 500 artists from across the globe to submit their visual interpretations of potential solutions to a wide range of issues. A distinguished jury evaluated the submissions,ultimately selecting the most insightful,accurate,and humorous cartoons.

“Cut Here” by Engin Selçuk of Türkiye earned the prestigious Golden Cactus, the competition’s top honor. The second-place award went to fellow Turkish artist Oguz Demir for his work, “We Can.” Notably,Michi Brezel of Germany,the 2023 winner,received the bronze award for his cartoon titled “Electric Chair.”

The 44 cartoons shortlisted by the jury are currently on display at the castle museum, offering visitors a thought-provoking exploration of creative problem-solving. An additional 156 entries, ranked 45th through 200th, are accessible digitally via a monitor within the exhibition space.
