Kochi: As Kerala gears up for assembly elections, public opinion on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s performance is shifting. A recent Manorama News-C Voter ‘Election Pulse’ survey revealed that 27% of respondents currently view the Chief Minister’s performance as good. This marks a slight dip from 29.1% in December and 27.1% in January.

Looking at potential successors, 24.1% of respondents favored V.D. Satheesan as the best chief ministerial candidate, while 22.4% supported Shashi Tharoor and 11.3% favored Pinarayi Vijayan. A substantial 42.2% expressed support for other candidates. The C-Voter survey polled 1,352 Malayali voters over the age of 18 across all districts of the state, with 3,373 participating in a tracker survey conducted during the first week of February, reflecting the population structure of Kerala.

When asked whether the current Left government should continue, 40.3% of voters answered affirmatively, while 53.7% indicated a desire for change. 6.1% remained undecided.

Recent survey data also shows a decline in public approval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Last week, 45.5% rated the Prime Minister’s performance as poor, a rise from 28% in December and 36.3% in January. Simultaneously, the percentage of those who view the Prime Minister’s performance favorably has decreased, falling from 34.3% in December to 31.2% in February.
